Congratulations!

Congrats Kristy! We just recieved news that my aunt Kristy is going to have a baby!! She is about 2 months in and were all very excited for her! I loved how she told everyone- she sent us all an e-mail saying "this is the cutest shirt!" and when we look at the picture we see Rissa (her baby girl) wearing a shirt that says 'big sister'!

We love you and are all very happy for you! :)

NJHS

Good news! This year I was accepted into NJHS - national junior honor society. They had a big ceremony to celebrate all the new members. When they would call your name you would stand up, walk and light your candle in the "candle of knowledge" then shake hands with the principal and get your certificate. I was sooo nervous! I just knew that I was going to trip, blow out the candle of knowledge and catch something on fire. But when they called my name I was fantastic :)
My certificate!
Waiting in line for my name to be called...

Lighting my candle in the "candle of knowledge"

Shaking hands with the principal

Waiting for all the hundreds of names to be called...standing in tall tall heels... getting burned by the candle wax... Such fun! :)
By the time we were done, someone had accidentally blown out the "candle of knowledge", caught the paper around there candle on fire, and everyone was burned by the hot wax. The things we do for school :)

Katie the Critic

I'm soo excited to write this post! I have just read an amazing book and cant wait for you all to hear about it!
Tittle: The Red Necklace
Author: Sally Gardner

I give this book an A.

The Red Necklace has everything! Mystery, Romance, Magic and everything else that makes up a good book. I don't want to give away to much because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. (because I know you're all going to rush to the library to get it) The story takes place in Europe in 1789, at the beginning of the French Revolution. Sido, the marquises daughter, has been hated by her father all her life. Yann, a handsome mysterious gypsy, was orphaned at birth and raised by Tetu', who helped him understand his magical abilities. When these two teenagers meet they feel a strange force pulling them together. They later are forced to work together to stay alive. In doing so, they learn about their past, future, and the joys of love and family.

General Conference

Luckily for general conference we can just listen to it on our computer. We turn the volume up way loud so we can hear it all over the house. I went around and took some fun pictures of what everyone was doing.

I was working on sewing my costume for youth conference! Fun! (more posts on that later)

Mom was helping :)

Josh was sitting on the front porch enjoying the fresh air

Claire was up all night sick :( so she took a nap

Melanie shares a room with Claire so she was also up all night

It was such a nice day that in between sessions we went on family walk. After conference we had hamburgers on the grill and ate outside on the picnic table.

The (big) itsy-bitsy-spider

So after school my mom drives home me, Rachel, and Becca. We had just dropped of Becca and were on the way to Rachel's. Both of us were in the front seat because the back was full. While we were driving down a busy street Rachel points to windshield and says "oh my gosh! there is a spider in the car!" It was huge! Like a little bit bigger than a quarter! Both of us were screaming "Spider!!" and "Stop the car!!", but my mom couldn't stop because there was a line of people behind us! Rachel and I slid way down in our seats and sat totally still the rest of the way. The spider had climbed onto the visor and we were finally on Rachel's street, when all of a sudden Claire reaches over and smacks the visor down! Rachel and I are screaming and moving around and mom is driving crazy criss-cross through the street! Mom stops in front of Rachel's street and Rachel and I jump out of the car screaming. We looked all over and couldn't find the spider...
Later that night...
On our way home from young womens Melanie was sitting in the front seat and we stopped at a gas station. I get out of the car and tell Mel to switch spots because it is my turn in front, but of course she wouldn't. I get back in my seat and all of a sudden Melanie starts screaming and throwing her arms around like crazy! She jumps our of the car and runs all around the parking lot screaming "Spider!!" and hitting herself trying to get it off! EVERYONE that was filling up there cars were cracking up! I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard! But after we still couldn't find the spider...

Our little visitor...

Around 9:45 Monday night, I walk into my mom's room and see her and Melanie sitting on the bed very quietly looking into the corner. I asked them what they were doing and they said they had heard something in the corner behind the t.v. Of course I didn't believe them, so I went and moved something near it... And we see a brown blur flying all across the room!! Melanie runs out of the room screaming and mom and me drop to the ground! When it finally lands we find that its a bird! My bathroom window had been open earlier so were guessing that it got in through there. It took us like a half hour to get him out!It was kind of hard to get a picture because he would only land for like 10 seconds before flying off again.

He wasn't very big but it was still scary when he was flying around

This is how dad was trying to catch our little visitor :)
